Hammersmith And City Line - Farringdon - delayed Minor delays on Hammersmith And City Line due to earlier derailment at Farringdon and staff shortage. Tickets being accepted on local bus routes. Updated 9 minutes ago Source: www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/tube at 1635 GMT. Therefore the following questions: was anybody hurt? Was it a C or an S derailed? If it was a C I imagine it will be a one way trip to Neasden for it? |

The train was empty, I suspect it was a low speed incident with a train coming out of the sidings.

It must have been a C stock, S7 are too long to stable in Farringdon Sidings. The only "injury" would have been a very small amount of shock to the driver. As for sending it to Neasden, it would depend on the damage. If it was really bad damage, then it will probably leapfrog up the queue for scrapping, but if the only damage was to the tracks, then there is no reason for it to be scrapped any sooner than it was going to be.
Also, I think that this is a bit contrary to one of the forum rules about serious incidents?

Regardless of what the damage was, if the cause was all or partly the train then it'll be withdrawn rather than rectified almost certainly. Of course it could be a unit scheduled to go soon anyway.

Without speaking to the other mods, I'd say no. Derailments within sidings and depots, at low speeds, seem to be a relatively common occurrence. Given that the train was empty and there seems to be little damage done, I wouldn't say this was a 'serious incident.'
Also, no one is speculating about the cause, just asking whether this particular unit will jump the queue for scrappage. Given there are a large number of Cs about to go, this may have been one of them anyway.
