On the eastbound platform 3 there are what look like dome shaped cctv cameras every few metres directly above the platform train interface on a fixing attached to the canopy. they have or are in the process of being fitted. There must be nearly 30... whats that all about?

the plot thickens. but if we, as the public, are getting our faces filmed 30 times as we walk up the platform, isn't that an invasion of privacy and a bit ott?
the platform staff didn't seem to know what they were for...
but they aren't exactly discrete if it is a special project... several people commented on them while i was on the platform.

As I have said before, sometimes, on rare occasions, it is in everybody's interests that questions are not answered.
Sorry, but in this day and age, information should not be handed out to anyone who asks what goes on behind the public interface. Please do not take this personally, but some information, even labels on doors, is not to be made public and it is not right that it should be.
Asking an FOI question on what MIGHT be a security issue is not in the public interest and could lead to disappointment.

Maybe it was just a coincidence but the train came to a halt 3/4 out the platform and the driver announced 'bit of a problem im just sorting it out' as if we had lost codes and then we seemed to pull out in RM before going back to normal.
I thought that was just a coincidence then I started imagining it could be linked to the cameras in some way.... then I started thinking about my dinner again!

Thats fair enough if this is one of those occasions. Maybe the thread should be locked. If its that secretive its better just not to reply and alert a moderator. By saying its a secret in public just raises more speculation!
I was thinking that its somehow linked to the pti or signalling or something... the question was asked out of curiosity to know how things work! The whole reason I'm a member of the forum.

I'm saying it MIGHT be.
I am sure information would be released if there is a "need to know"
It is better sometimes that the public do not know what goes on behind 'any door' rather than behind 'some doors' as it makes the 'some doors' more interesting to those who should not know what goes on behind them.

The request was sent to me asking that the thread be locked or erased - I've been away from the computer for most of the day (a very rare event, and in fact the first time in a couple of months), so this is the first time I've really had to action the request.
This thread will remain locked - I am currently investigating the 'domes' as I have seen something written about them recently. When I have something to report back, I will.
