Some pictures of the current works are attached. This is the view from the Kentbound platform, along the former back gardens of the Key Worker Homes at Abbey Wood. The future Crossrail Platforms are to be built here in the future. Existing station Car Park at Abbey Wood, to be taken over by one of the replacement Southeastern platforms. Poster in the old ticket hall announcing the coming of the Crossrail Line. View looking towards Plumstead, at the end of the existing Southeastern platform.

On a related note, Jan 2014 sees the start of physical works on the adjacent Abbey Wood Cross Quarter Development, consisting of a Hotel, Housing, Shop units and a Sainsbury's Supermarket unit. The Demolition Contractors begin the site clearance works. This development should be finished by the time Crossrail arrives in Abbey Wood in a few years time.

A fortnight later, the first buildings have been cleared off the adjacent Cross Quarter site. (Taken on 25th January). The Abbey Wood Station Entrance looks like this now, car park sealed off as a Builder's Compound. A new electrical substation has just been installed to supply the future station area nearby. Just watch this space, more photos to be posted as works progress in due course!

Why does every development these days have to be a "Something Quarter"?

You should be hung, drawn, AND quartered for that.

Does anyone know if the houses at the end of the old carpark (abbey terrace) been demolished yet?

Further Updates on Progress. Westbound platform with its central bay demolished to make way for the temporary footbridge crossover facility. Eastbound Platform Wall awaiting demolition of the Central Bays. Western end of Westbound Platform looking towards Belvedere. (End House awaiting demolition - Disconnection of Electricity feeder is holding that up!).
