60TS was the test bed for much that is now commonplace on the Underground 3902:chopper control test train(was also unit used in FACT testing 3904:Westcode brake test train(3006 on Victoria Line was also used) 3908:was first unit to be fitted with CTBCs 3910:was rheo brake test train for years before conversion to track recording train

Towerman, do you know what the purpose of a 1960ts test train formation running on the NCL with 1959ts trailers was? Mid to late 60s, it was noted in a very old edition of UndergrounD but I dont think there were any further details?

The following formations were noted:
3910 2734 2736 3911 Mar-63 3904 2730 2750 3905 Jan-64 3910 2736 2750 3911 Mar-64 3904 2730 2734 3911 Mar-64 3910 2730 4903 3911 May-64
The 1962 Stock trailers above were delivered early and out of sequence for test train work. Apart from 2730, they all entered service in their correct formations in 1964.
Unit 1730/31 had 2708 and 2709 in them as 1708 suffered a collision at Ruislip before entering service. 1709 was stored new.
1708/09 entered service with its correct intermediate cars in 1965, when 1730 reverted to what it should have been, 2730 entering service for the first time then also.

Ah my mistake. Thanks Reg, very helpful! Three more questions though; what work were they doing, why did it involve 62ts trailers, and why did it take place on the NCL?
