Until a few weeks ago I was able to avoid the rush hour crush by getting a westbound train that started from Loughton at 7.50am. That train no longer starts at Loughton, and nor do any others between 7.30 and 7.50, meaning that the option for getting an emptier train is no more. My back is dodgy and I can't stand in a packed carriage all the way to west London. I know the timetable has changed: does anyone please know if there are trains starting at Loughton between 6.50am and 8.15am on weekdays, and what time they start if so? I'd be very glad to find out. Thank you.

You can do as a friend who lives near Blackhorse Road does. He catches the train returning to Walthamstow, and then travels in to London with a seat in a fairly empty carriage. It adds a bit to your journey, but he finds it helpful.

There is also a train at 7.05 that starts from Debden, so that will be less busy than the trains starting from Epping.

Yes. I live not very far from the Windmill. An under-appreciated landmark. Glad to see it pictured.

This morning I caught train 144 thanks to your posts. Far more comfortable journey and with fewer delays, thus far; journey time was slightly shorter. Much appreciated.
