Hi,
I'm hoping to see all of the D Stock before they go for the chop over the next couple of years. I've spent some time noting them when i can but am continually missing around 10 units. Does anyone know if there are any 'Christmas Trees' knocking about like C Stock 5595 that won't ever be back in service?
Thanks

E.g. the C69 stock 5595 which sat around at Acton, doing very little (in the style of a Christmas tree) being slowly stripped of parts until it was eventually scrapped

Quite common - usually a unit or vehicle with some major fault which has sidelined it - whilst awaiting repair - which may never come - minor components get borrowed to keep the rest of the fleet running. So, like a Christmas tree, it becomes regarded as a free source of useful "presents". A near equivalent in the motor trade is "breaking for spares"

We used to call it cannibalism.
It often happened in the electronics field I worked in.

We stll call it that and have "cannibalisation tags" to put where the parts are missing.

I think all D Stock units are still in service. Which units are you missing?
