Hi all, I'm new to the forum! I wondered if anyone knows the rough schedule for switching over to the new signalling system for the rest of the northern line? I know Highgate to High Barnet is switched over, no idea on the rest. All I've heard in the media is next summer for overall completion.
I know we have to wait for the new timetable before we get the full benefit, but trains seem to run much more quickly and smoothly to Finchley Central now. That is my stop, and I remember the trains often used to back up between there and East finchley on my way home but this rarely seems to happen any more.

Due to be finished by December next year but the signalling part of the upgrade ahead of plan hence the reference to Summer 2014 in the media. NMA3 was due for February next year but based on good performance during last weekend's testing will be in well before that. Watch the thread on Northern line TBTC for updates. In addition to signalling there is still lots of track improvement work to do. Northern Line TBTC

Will the stated improvements (i.e. more frequent trains and quicker journeys) take effect once the signalling is done or does that depend on the track improvement too?

In theory, the signalling will allow the trains to run closer together, and slightly faster in some places. However, further track replacement is necessary for increased speed in other places.

I did find this website with a load of information about the TBTC project. This is all internal LU material so not sure it should all be on the internet, but a few documents satisfied my inner geek! <<Link removed>>
rincew1nd: Forum rule 7 states:
Whilst none of the documents that I viewed by following the link were marked "internal use only" or anything similar, at least one included the names of staff and their respective duty roster(s). Additionally, of the documents I accessed, there was no useful information that I didn't already know by reading what forum members had posted here!

There is already a thread dealing with the TBTC works here. I am going to lock this thread, though if any member would like it unlocking so that they could perhaps discuss another aspect of the upgrade, a PM to a member of staff online should be enough to arrange its unlocking.
