Anyone old enough to remember when the Central had an extended PM peak of about 60-90mins due to the late night shopping in Oxford Street? It was still in operation in 1968 when I moved to Northumberland Pk,but when I went back in 1975 it had been discontinued. When did it finish?

I remember it when I was a railway operating apprentice back in 1964/5 was at Oxford Circus and on a Thursday evening had to stand at the top of the stairs of the Argylll Street exit which was way out only, my job was to tell people to go round to the entrance on Oxford Street. This was before the Victoria line had opened and station was smaller in those days.

By the way, it was trialled with WTT 20A late-1959 in time for Christmas shopping traffic and began in normal WTTs from No.24 from 15/10/62.

What additions were made to supplement the normal services(eg Marble Arch reversers)?

I believe certain trains that normally stabled at Hainault,Loughton,White City or Ruislip between 18:00 to 19:00 did another WB or EB trip so that some trains that normally would stable on the east end would stable on the west end & vice versa.
