Hello from me, a first post which I will try to keep short.
This thread districtdavesforum.co.uk/thread/9749/moorgate-crash-flickr-set brought me here.
I am in the early stages of researching my family history which has a very strong rail connection. My Grandad, Charles Cope was, I believe, a rail worker, possibly involved in the NUR Orphans fund and a Union official of some kind. I also believe he was awarded an OBE - perhaps for services to the fund, or following service as a Labour Party councillor.
He had many kids - including my Mum as well as Charlie and John Cope who I never met. Rather amusingly I see that Charlie seems to have been an OK guy, but John might have been a 'miserable git'! Maybe it's in the genes!!!!
The thread above suggests Charlie features in one of the pictures but, frustratingly, I can't see it - and wouldn't recognise him anyway.
I would really appreciate some help in: -
a). Locating any photographic records of the Cope clan including the picture above.
b). Hearing of any reminiscences - good or bad are OK by me!! Even something as simple as John getting his briefcase stuck in a train door adds colour where there is currently nothing!
c). Any suggestions for sources of employment records - especially for my Grandad Charles - for the Cope rail clan generally.
If there is any interest I will revisit and update as my journey progresses insofar as it relates to rail.
Sorry for being long-winded, and thank you for reading. I will be away on a break until 9th September, but will respond to any replies as and when I can
