I'm a fan! A really clear design. Great to hear. --- I've got an idea to mark zones on the map. What about that?

Excellent work, especially the way in which you have shown journey times. My only recommendation would be to clear up the area around Canning Town, because for me (as someone without a clue when it comes to the DLR) it is a bit difficult to understand, especially with the split tracks beneath it. I think that if you add some zones, it might well be a very good alternative for tourists.

I would like to see all the stations named and a gap between the two lines at Stratford as there is no possibility of through running

domh245 Thanks. I've now split up Canning Town into 2 dots - one for the upper level and one for the lower level - so now tourists (and other) know that it isn't possible East India-Canning Town-Star Lane or West Silvertown-Canning Town-Royal Victoria (actually it is possible but only at certain times). I've also add zones, it reminds me about that fact that DLR serve both zone 1 and 4 but it isn't possible to travel ONLY in one of them ONLY with the DLR. castlebar It's difficult to insert labels in the program I use. I've also split up Stratford into 2 dots - one for the Stratford-branch and another for the Stratford International-branch. And here it is ... VERSION 2: Changes made: - 1 dot split up (Canning Town & Stratford International)
- Zones marked

Yeah, that is better, but I can't help but feel that it isn't strictly necessary to show the flyovers/unders such as at Canning Town and Westferry. Passengers won't really need to know that there is a split between East India and Canning Town when heading to Beckton. You could get away with simply showing that at Canning Town trains from Poplar can go to both destinations and likewise with those from Stratford. All that you really need is the crossover.

I think you should move the time key to the left hand side and this will allow you to bring the Woolwich Arsenal branch down at a diagonal or straight down and this will help when labeling stations.
Other than a little tidying up and simplifying needed I think it's a really good map.

In addition to what others have said, I think the way stations in multiple zones are displayed needs to be clearer. The easiest way to do this will probably to have dashed lines either side of the stations and a zone label for that area. Also, the zone boundary line should ideally pass around not through station names.

I'd like to see Bank and Tower Gateway reversed, just to be closer to the actual geography.

Well Tower Gateway is east-south-east of Bank, the confusion comes because the line to Bank curves south of Tower Gateway - (the above diagram is simplified, see carto.metro) Putting Tower Gateway south of Bank also matches their position on the main tube map, which is less confusing for those not familiar with the system.

Ha, well just goes to show what I know, I'll stick to proper trains and kettles.
I guess its because when you're sat at the front pretending to be the driver you turn right for Tower Gateway and left for Bank.

domh245 I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean. Can you explain it a little more? Deep Level I focus to make it "clean", but also geographical, according to the original idea, I don't think that makes the Woolwich branch heads south or south/west is a good idea. And can you explain what you're meaning with "a little tidying up and simplifying"? Chris M I've made my a special "zone 2/3" which covers Pudding Mill Lane, East India & all station south of Cutty Sark. The zone markers don't go through any station names in the new version. rincew1nd Done. --- Let me present ... version 3 How about... - Inform about connections?
- Draw Jubilee (Canary Wharf-Stratford), District (Monument-West Ham), H&C (Bow Road-West Ham), C2C (Fenchurch Street-West Ham) in?
DO YOU'VE AN IDEA? WRITE IT DOWN IN A POST - AND MAYBE I'LL ADD YOUR IDEA TO MY MAP

EDIT: When I made the Version 3 map and write the post was the newer comments about Bank/TowerG not there. I think that I'll turn the split back to the old in version 4

A more geographical map wouldn't show Woolwich Arsenal as being South-East of Beckton and east of King George V as it's almost directly south of Gallions Reach and KGV. The same could be said about Beckton, when making a map you have to compromise to keep it neat and readable.
Also I'm a little confused as to what's going on between Royal Vic and Custom House, your map appears to show that trains from the City pass through Royal Vic on a different alignment and join the rest of the line between the two stations.

If you look at your V3 map between Limehouse and Westferry, you can see the through line (towards Canning Town) as a straight line. But there is also a diverging line which heads upwards then bends through Westferry before going down to Lewisham. To demonstrate with ASCII:
/-----------\ WESTFERRY ---O-------------O---------- LIMEHOUSE \ \
What I am trying to get at is that most people don't need to see the different tracks, just the lines, so you only really need straight lines, as such:
WESTFERRY ---O------------O-------- LIMEHOUSE \ \
I hope this makes sense?
