It only seems a few weeks ago since it was the Epping Ongar Railway's 150th Underground event... but suddenly its the Buckinghamshire Railway's turn this weekend and also on Wednesday 7 August. For those who are interested Quainton Road Station is hosting a 150th Underground anniversary event (Buckinghamshire Railway Centre), which was once a line to Verney Junction and Brill. No. 1 steam loco is advertised as being there, as are restored coach 353, Metropolitan Dreadnought Carriage 465 and the 1896 milk van that was used until 1936. Then there's a Metropolitan Railway open wagon (one of three surviving). Those who have been there before will know that a 3-car CO/CP stock unit, 38 DM cab and New York car also reside at the museum and are well work a visit on their own. Just FYI if anyone wants to attend, you only have a couple of days left to book online... My tickets arrived yesterday

Yesterday was a wonderful day... I went along with my wife and friends. My best photos of the day can be found HERE on my Flickr site For those who can make it, A Connoisseur's Day is to be held on Tuesday 6 August, allowing those to find out more about the history of the vehicles and Metropolitan Line. According to the event leaflet " The event will include footplate rides and 'behind the scenes' access to selected workshops". The cost may seem steep to some, having been set at £45 per person (and need to be booked in advance), but for those who can make it it may well proove to be a uniquely accessible day to these vehicles.

Some excellent photo's there Chris. And a good as a prompt as any that I really need to get up to Quainton myself. The museum part itself looks a treasure trove of ephemera.

Just a thought, regarding the CO/CP stock, I have a couple of the original Read &Campbell fire extinguishers with which these would have been fitted. One, a tall (there were also short stubby ones) One-gallon extinguisher was totally restored for me by Chubb some years ago and, of course, is full working order. Cheers. Jim

Glen. It was more accessible a few years ago, you could sit inside it to eat your lunch. The bad news is that it was completely gutted before it was acquired by the BRC. The drivers cabs were sealed off but I understand that the controls are absent as well.

Those COCP cars are going to end up being more putty than steel at this rate! You would have thought the LTM of TfL could at least arrange for a donation of tarps or old posters to cover them against rain. Considering how rare they are and all...

Ah thanks for that info Phil, that's a shame it would have been interesting to see a complete one, never mind I must spend a day up there again next year. Glen.
