Approaching Epping on the eastbound there is a rusty old standard stock on the left hand side. Anyone know anything about it?

It belongs to the Cravens Heritage Trains group who are based in the old signal box. It is L11 which was created as a shunter for Acton Works from 2 cars.

It was featured in one episode of The Tube (The earlier sky series, not the BBC one). I can't remember which episode it was, but it shows the train being moved.

Yes, we visited it on one of our forum trips a couple of years ago (not intentionally as it happened).

If you're talking about the jaunt up to the east end of the Central Line that you and I were both on, then that was more than a couple of years ago now. I'm fairy certain it was 2008

A quick [perhaps too blatant] plug - Radley Models www.radleymodels.co.uk actually sell 4mm and 7mm kits of it! Arun

If you can raise lots of money, find a site it can be kept safe, gets lots of paint for free it could be done ! Finding the site is the most difficult. For the paint forum members could volunteer, each member who wants would buy 500ml or 1L of the same paint and it could be quickly done

Don't forget arranging transportation to the site as well. Does the EOR have any suitable space that could be used (assuming they were happy with renting it out of course)?

Possibly a candidate for the first rail vehicle to move from Epping to Ongar in a while, though probably most likely to move by road not rail!
