Morning all,
If the S7s ever make it into service on the District, does anyone know if the service will still be between Edgware Road and Wimbledon or if there will be Edgware Road trains from say Upminster and Barking, because presumably, if the stock is the same, it would be possible.
Can somebody in the know enlighten me?
Many Thanks ELL

S7s will be introduced into passenger service on Wimbledon-Edgware Rd around late-Jan/Feb, although some test trains would be seen on the 'main line' before that.
There are no plans to change the service pattern at this stage.
One thing is that Upminster and Barking drivers are not trained to Edgware Rd amd no District drivers are trained from Aldgate East-Edgware Rd. Also the current service frequency Liverpool St-Baker Street would preclude any additional train operations until after resignalling, maybe.

Do the rest of the District drivers sign the whole line, or does their route knowledge have gaps in it too?

IIRC Drivers on the West end of the line (Acton and Earls Court) are trained on both C & D stock and on the wimbleware line as well. The east end drivers are only trained on D and resultingly don't need to learn the High Street Ken to Edgware Road branch, although I believe that with the introduction of the S7 the east end drivers will be trained on the rest of the line.

Hope someone changes the irritatingly inaccurate in-car recorded announcement about the tennis when the C stock gives way to S7s...

Has this always been the case? I'm pretty sure I remember the east end District drivers being trained on C stock once upon a time.

I remember back in the 80's east end crews working the occasional Edgware Road service to keep their training up to date, also as an ex PG man working the Circle line on a Sunday our turns were either Wimbledon -Edgware road or Circle Line we didn't touch the main.
Although doing 4 & 3 or combinations there of could be boring, remember no shops open on Sundays those days apart from people going to Petticoat Lane so it could be dead at certain times of the day it was always interesting to cover the City Widened Lines.

Do I recall correctly that District TOps aren't trained on the Gloucester Road to High Street Kensington leg of the triangle? Is there any word on whether that's going to change once S7s are introduced?
