Not strictly the Underground but I found this in another forum which must be the earliest colour cine film of London streets - the shots of NSs and Ks in normal (and solid tyred!) service are particularly good. Pity the trams only get the odd glimpse. With a bit more effort at studying the bus routes, I dare say we could narrow the date down a bit further.

That's a great clip. I think that it was a two colour process, red and green, rather than the three we use now with blue as well. Friese-Greene: or as he came out of the ice box, Deep Friese Greene (Spike Milligan).

They have lots of other footage from his film, The Open Road on their YouTube channel up here bit.ly/1920sEngland. More background on this here bit.ly/1077PVK.

GH Ah Graham, having watched it, I have a sneaking suspicion about it - there was a clip about a cricket Test match - ahem!! That should be enough to date it for cricket fans - sorry I don't have Richie Benaud's database!! I wouldn't be surprised if Friese-Greene had footage of "the Don" (Bradman). BTW, the trams were of the conduit type - akin to those that plied the Kingsway Subway, so you could claim a tenuous Underground link . D
