W&C moquette is becoming more and more popular in the driver's cab on D Stock. Obviously moquette is reused from time-to-time to save money, etc. and driver's cabs have historically been good places to find old moquettes that have gone in the saloon - I still like the old moquette on the Piccs. Is there any particular reason that the W&C stuff is being used?

Maybe it is the most similar looking to something you'd see on the District, or they simply have it in large quantities?

I would suspect that all passenger-facing moquette replacements have to be the new stuff, and that there's a roll-end of old W&C stuff knocking about somewhere.

My money would be on it simply being something they have available I suppose I was asking is who is 'they' and from where would it be available - presumably the recovering was done at one of the District depots and the W&C on the W&C or one of the Central depots.

Hmm, there are two realistic possibilities either seats are reupholstered at a line depot each having its own stock of moquette; or seats cushions are transported to a central location (possibly a depot but not necessarily) for reupholstering. I guess it depends how often it needs doing, how much space is required and how much skill is involved in doing it - questions I know none of the answers to! In the latter case then if it isn't a passenger facing seat then I guess they'll just use whatever is conveniently available. In the former, then I'd guess the/one District depot sent a message asking around for any moquette going spare, or possibly the purchasing or stores department coordinate stuff like that?

Not sure which category this should be in; ½ finished or run out of money?! So far, 38 out of 170 cabs completed.

The longest possible journey at W&C is 4 minutes, then the driver has to "step back" - leave and walk down the platform and drive the next train.

Yet another variation, seen on 4 now:

That's the old 67TS moquette, no? Are LU really tying just to replace the moquettes with whatever is going to keep costs down? Could we see a return of the old D stock moquette as the depots savage stored trains and should the worst come to the worst, the museum!

Oooh, that's a pretty old one - wonder where they dug that up from. It's nice, too. Is there a point in all these being done - weren't the driver's seats recovered at the same time as the general refurb? Wonder if there'll be another variant somewhere

Hi all,
This is one of the modifications our Engineering team has brought in since October last year. This all started because the costruction of the seats designed by bombardier were starting to break down (the anti-vandal wire mesh) inside the seats had started to frey and as it was considered a safety risk.
We redesigned the Anti vandal mesh to prevent this happening again and to cut down on costs we sourced the old W&C line moquette free of charge which meant we could complete a fleet wide change at minimal cost.
FYI the image from Dstock7080 Administrator is probably only like this because a call point may have had to change it during service as the old seat may have been defective. There shouldnt be any more like this around (I Hope!!!)

I would have thought a Train Op seat was the last place you'd need anti-vandal measures!
