Aha! Did this pass through Pinner around 11:20? I heard an unusual train come past as I was going into Sainsburys - I was in the wrong place to see anything.

Train consisted of 20227, 20142 and L189 plus Sarah Siddons and 4TC. Seems that the exercise was in preparation for the Steam weekend coming up very soon. Train to be shunted into No. 34 Road at Amersham and leading steam loco will go into headshunt. Train will then move forward into Amersham's No. 2 platform.

I understand your reasoning but it is rather bizarre that in a world where the Big Railway's Working Timetable is now on line (and even live on Real Time trains) including sensitive workings like nuclear flasks because of Freedom of Information LU's timetable is still a state secret. We had a similar thread recently, on that thread the following was posted: Admin comment: The reasons for our rule have already been stated and are the result of previous problems experienced by London Underground. As you're a new member here you should know that we don't copy what other forums do; all of our rules are based upon previous experience and requests from British Transport Police and/or London Underground. As you say the information is available elsewhere - whilst we acknowledge that fact, we don't associate ourselves with it and thats that. You will note that I only took the timings out rather than deleting the entire post

May I just add that LU WTT's are also available on the Internet as the result of WTTs, just a quick google search will bring on up. Only the "unusual" events aren't posted on the forum (such as Stock deliveries, Scrap movements etc) for the reasons posted in the rules. If you look at other threads, you will see where regular train workings have been posted (for example pg 71 pf the S stock deliver thread) and comply with the rules

Because of the distances involved in typical NR operation, and the fact that in most cases they have a lot more room at stations, groups of people at mainline stations will have less potential for disruption.
For example say there is an unusual movement from West Ruislip to Morden depots. Lots of people are within easy reach of it and many can see it at muliple points on its journey. So you have the potential for 20-odd people at the end of confined deep level stations and then as a group hurrying around the stations to catch it somewhere else.
Compare that with an NR movement from say Barrow Hill to Minehead via Taunton. While there will probably be more people interested in seeing it, far fewer will be within easy reach of the route and they will be spread out over hundreds of miles with few opportunities to see it at multiple points en-route. Even 40 people can be accommodated at the platform ends of major stations without disrupting the everyday running of the railway.
