Found another old photo of an unusual situation, I do know where and when.

I'd tend towards Leytonstone...

It looks like Newbury Part but actually I also think it is Leytonstone. The crossover and electrified rails were not present on the Ilford Line.

I immediately thought it was the "magic bridge" (look over one parapet and you see four tracks, over the other and you see only two) carrying Gainsborough Road over the Central Line at Leytonstone. Surely the line to Ilford was never electrified, (I would be surprised if it ever sported a colour light signal on the old main line either - and, although seen from the rear, it looks like a junction signal which would fit the layout at Leytonstone but not Newbury Park)

Definitely not Ilford.

Given the position of the tunnelled tracks to the road bridge I'd say it was Leytonstone. Still my record of getting this stuff right is not exactly brilliant

I would say Leytonstone too. The tracks to Ilford at Newbury Park were never electrified and the bridge does look as if its Gainsborough Road.

Certainly Leytonstone looking North East towards Snaresbrook. Looking at the tunnel mouths theres stairs leading upto Gainsborough Road implying this was when the tunnels were in use as a war time factory.

The date must be close. The electric rails are not in place to Newbury Park so 1943 is about right I'd guess.

Looks like the Westbound line from Wanstead was being used as a loco spur!

December 63, Railway Magazine. What date is the drawing? Is the drawing sometime later than the photo, the "Engine spur" rails look unused and I can't see LF31 shunt signal or the valves for 17 points.

Drawing is '47 - I'm trying to work out when LF box was partially commissioned.
