Hi everyone, This is going to be a really pointless thread if I am wrong, but was travelling on a Circle Line train today and boarded at Kings X. I saw that Farringdon station was advertised as closed, and also on Tube tracker app it's closed today and tommmorow, even on the TFL Website it is supposedly closed (13th &14th April). So anyway train continued as usual from KingsX and was expecting to hear the next station is closed announcement, or the train operator come on and say Farringdon was closed, but none of this happened. The train arrived a Farrindgon and stopped. I didn't take any notice, until the doors opened and was shocked to see people alighting. The station was deserted, nobody about including no workman. The train continued as normal after this. Was it really closed or not? Surley the train operator could not have been that stupid, to open the doors at a closed station, but everywhere is saying its closed today and tommorow. Anyone?

It was closed when I went through at about 15:00! Haha well at least I wasn't going mad! Surely that wouldn't have reopened the station just for this evening , when it's supposed to be closed all day tommorow as well!

I think the closure is for Thameslink works, so I don't know if you saw anything on the other side of the divider between the two going on... Would be weird as there should be a station closed sign out!

Closed all weekend - no trains should be stopping.
Barriers at all entrances.

The person I was travelling with, had just purchased a new mobile phone and was testing the camera, I have seen the picture he took and I can confirm that the Station closed board was out and the yellow light was flashing!!

Would help points on the platform be active when the station is closed?

There were enough staff and contractors on the station to resolve the situation fairly quickly

Would help points on the platform be active when the station is closed? Most certainly will - and it depends whether a SCRA or SS is at the computer to answer the call!

Is it possible that you were mistaken and were actually at Barbican?

Not if the station closed board was deployed as stated above in the thread.
Barbican was open.

Is it possible that you were mistaken and were actually at Barbican? 100% was at Farringdon, I was in the last carriage and had stopped over the crossover and some lights were out. Also the announcements were all working and was announcing this is Farringdon, so I can 100% assure you that this was at Farringdon.

Pimlico - you've come miles into London and been so close to Acton yet didn't come to the meet to say hello and to have a drink

An all boards announcement, and two threads discussing it; what do we need to do for the next one?
I couldn't make it, but it sounds like an excellent time was had by all.

Closed because the roof is being replaced and the initial scaffolding was presumably being erected. A refurbishment of the roof over the LT and Network Rail sides will be ongoing until 2015. A platform is being erected over the whole area to protect passengers and provide support for the contractors.
