Wrong of paper in the printing press. Ah, it takes 6 months to change paper, I see. That's almost as fast a getting a decision from DaFT on the GOBLIN!! Anyway, I've ordered the hard-back '06 edition (I think it was), and unless I hear that there's a lot of additional material in the paperback, not just a reprint, I'll can the original order. The hardback has already grown wings , and should be here by the end of the coming week, if past performance is anything to judge by.

I enjoyed reading the 1962 edition of Rails Through the Clay. [My copy originally shelved as book #9131 of the Borough of Keighley Public Library.]
(If one has a similar interest in a great book about the history of the New York City subway, I can highly recommend 722 Miles by Clifton Hood.)

The 2006 edition is simply a scan and reprint of the 1962 edition. No updates, just as it was. Not the best of scans, either. Sold as a hardback - but my hardcover was pulled off the spine before it got to me. I'd love to know what content the paperback edition has, and whether the 199? edition which sells 2ndhand for like £100+ has any different?

The 1993 edition has additional chapters covering 1962-1992. The material from the original book was also revised, I believe, although I haven't yet had time to check this.

I was very disappointed to find the 2006 hardback lacked this extra content. I wish the advertisers would make it clearer what content they are offering! So, I certainly await release of the paperback with interest, to see whether it is simply the 2006 in paperback or whether it is the 1993 in paperback. I'd appreciate anyone finding out to post, please. DW
