Relating back to this threadI'm slowly working on my 1962 stock pilot set 1570-2440-9441-1441. I'm working on the alarm system. I assume that it only ran down one side of the train and didn't cross over at the car ends? Also the butterfly cocks on the motor cars appear to be at the trailing ends (which makes sense) but what about on the Trailers/NDMs? They appear to be at the A end with the door fault lights at the D end. Can anyone confirm? The EFE cars may be wrong!

AFAIU, based on training info I have
Indicator lights at D end of ALL cars
butterflies at A ends except for A end DMs (when fitted at D end)
Not checked EFE models, will need to do so!
Hope this helps

Indicator lights on EFE stock are correct except for A end DM which has them at the cab end. I suspect this is because both DMs use the same body moulding, the coupler differences being taken care with on the chassis.

That's what I thought. Does your car still have the alarm wire at the back? I assume it wasn't a middle motor as there is no box on the front. I've changed the A end car to be correct. The unit needs door cocks to- omething else to do.....

Hi there, yes the wiring mods are still present on the back of the car, one day I will get round to un-modifying them! I have un-modified the cab so far. I have the parts in stock to do the guard's panel etc. I was careful to "select" an un-modified car as I didn't want one with the ugly modifications to its "face", easier said than done at the time, a story I can bore you with at some time.........

If you mean the PEA wiring, when the mod was done an inter unit jumper was fitted at the middle motors next to M door(on double ended 62TS units there were jumpers each end)There was also a socket to plug the jumper in if the unit was operating on it's own to stop a permanent alarm.

Hence why the double enders had a loop feeding back into the box.
So at the moment the EFE trains need the following modifications:
1) 'A' end DM needs door fault light moved to trailing end 2) 'A' end DM needs butterfly cocks placed at trailing end 3) 'D' end DM and T/NDM need butterfly cocks placed at 'A' ends
Next step is to sort the bogies out......

I see EFE are releasing the first 1959 stock set 1012-1013 soon. I notice that all 1959/62 cars appear to have one drab handle to the right of the communicating door (if viewed from outside the car). Can anyone confirm? More mods in the offing......

Agh!! More work. Thanks for the confirmation Neil.
So my pilot set needs:
New hand rails (but not at the car corners) Butterfly cocks 2 compressor rings on the trailer PEA alarm wiring at the car ends A fresh coat of aluminium spray which I can then make look badly worn.
