A few photos on FlickrUnfortunately too many people were blocking the view of HM, The Duke of Edinburgh and Kate to get a decent photo of them but took a few on platform 1 after the crowds were gone. A bit chaotic with the Met Line arrangements. Travelled to Northwick Park this morning from Rayners Lane. We were all turfed out at Harrow when they suddenly decided to terminate the train. The all stations train already on platform 6 was changed to a semi fast but I didn't hear an on board announcement - didn't see many get off! Later travelled to Baker Street. The old Met carriage was at the southern end of Plat 1 with the S7 in 150 livery ahead of it. Plat 1 and the passage from Plat 5 was already blocked off and eventually the Met ticket hall then Plat 2 were shut and trains from Aldgate passed through without stopping. Staff and police were sticking to the story it was a heritage event although it was possible to see the S7's new name behind the curtain giving a clue as to who was due. Plat 4 remaned open for terminating trains but for some reason staff were telling people to use Jubilee Line to Finchley Road. HM and party arrived just after 11. By then people had guessed what was going on and quite a crowd built up on Plat 3. Loud boos went up every time an Aldgate arrived or a n/b train passed blocking the view. Ceremony took place about 11.30 after which HM and party left, Plats 1 and 2 re-opened.

Well S8 21099/21100 is Tim O'Toole.
Some A stock were named unofficially, and were stripped of their names quickly!

What is the point of this??
What is the benefit of this??
What is the cost of this??
Is it just because somebody is grovelling for a knighthood??

The name plate was done at Neasden Sunday afternoon. I had to resist putting some pics up on here Sunday/monday.

next stop Buckingham Palace... Maybe the old rumour that the Vic line had a private platform under Buck House is true but they'd have had fun fitting an S stock down those tunnels! Apparently the Queen did not travel? - maybe she did not like the fact that the train was "All Stations".

It's to please those out-of-touch dinosaur-types who still think the Underground is more than an outdated transport system in a run-down city on a third-rate island off the coast of Europe.

I've also just realised that the train is an S7+ONE (as opposed to other S7's on the met that are S7+1's)

Is Buckingham Palace as the destination photoshopped or is it possible to put in places that would not normally be used? Just asking because in the newspaper today, the passenger dot matrix on the train also read Buckingham Palace

It wasn't Photoshopped, the destination Buck Palace and the internal dot matrix scrolling were also shown on BBC News.
