I was driving on the northern line when the 95 stock was introduced, a stock which is now performing very well though it must be due an overhaul after 15 years in service. At the time it was rubbished, I struggle to find anything on the forum said about S stock which was not said about 95's.
In fact the S stock has had a much smoother and more reliable introduction to service than the 95 stock (Northern Line) did.
I was wondering about other stock introductions and if there has ever been one where new trains have immediatly been praised and loved by everyone.

Its hard to say. Perhaps the 1996 stock was welcomed over the 1983 stock?

All stock when first introduced is going to have unforseen problems, with the 09 stock on the Vic, the sensitive edge was a nightmare, but generally outside of that, the train was well recived. Having spent the last few weeks going up and down the Met in the cabs, (and driving) S stock, I find them quite good, the TCMS is better than the 09 stock, however speaking to drivers, they've beening moaning about things like no volume control on the radio, no opening windows in the cab, the air con system that you can't turn off to name a few.

92ts has to be the worst for those sorts of gaps. I'm talking about inches on some of them.

Indeed. One wonders if all the mods on them and the 'refresh', and new windows, car ends, posibly motors in the future, bogies, etc is just throwing good money after bad?

Not LU but the Class 378s were generally welcomed on LO routes when they replaced the 313s and 508s.

I'm just mere passenger on the Watford DC Lines. Another non LU example was the 165s replacing the 115s on the Chiltern Lines. Usage on the lines shot up when the Turbos were introduced. I imagine the 1938TS was welcomed by passengers when introduced?

They'd be better off putting S stock on the ELL and SLL, simply as they have the type already.

I don't think S stock are built to Network rail standards.

I imagine the 1938TS was welcomed by passengers when introduced? Most certainly was! Those infernal central door jambs on the 1927 stock were invariably in the way. And the motors took up a good third of each of the driving cars. Apart from that, they were quite comfortable.

They should lease some 150s to run more one-way crowd-busters between Woodgrange Park and Hampstead Heath (or Willesden Junction LL). That would go some way to relieving the Goblin problem without major investment.

That would go some way to relieving the Goblin problem without major investment. If there were any spare 150's, or indeed any other suitable DMU, i'm sure they would have - unfortunately they are all spoken for. As for the 508's, that's the first time i've heard of any suggestion that LO are considering them which really doesn't make much sense when TfL have already budgeted for increasing the capacity and size of the 378 fleet. Presumably the story comes from the GOBLIN user group BGOLUG who have been suggesting using older rolling stock. Chris
