I'm looking to buy a copy. I find on Google that there's 4 editions: 1962, 1964, 1993 and 2007. The 1993 has 574 pages, the others 406. Now Amazon.co.uk has the 1993 edition for sale. I can't establish what the differences are. If I buy the 1993 edition, will I be foregoing significant material that is present in the 2007 edition?
Thanks

A poster on LR alerted me to the availability of the book in paperback - released soon, but available for pre-order at: www.amazon.co.uk/Rails-Through-Clay-History-Railways/dp/0415860466/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1362385313&sr=1-6I've placed a pre-order. But would still like to know what the difference is between the 1993 edition and the 2007. Cheers DW down under.

Having looked at what is available on Amazon, I suspect that you may wish to reconsider your purchase. It seems to me that the 2006 edition and the forthcoming 2013 edition are nothing more than reprints of the 1962 edition and that the 1993 edition remains the most recently revised and up to date edition available. I may have misinterpreted the information available on the Amazon website but I would certainly recommend clarifying this while you still have the option of modifying your order.

I'd agree with Harsig that the 1993 edition is the most recent. I have a sneaking suspicion one of the Authors is now deceased.

Yes, sadly Alan A. Jackson passed away two or three years ago

I have the 1962 edition with 406 pages. Interesting from the historical perspective. Probably best to try for a 1993 edition, though.
