Riding in car 23109 today, there was a severe rattle from the map/ad panel above the last 4-seat bay before car 24109, if anyone cares. It was so loud when traversing the points outside Uxbridge station I half expected a meteoric descent of the whole assembly

Out of the few times i've been on S stock, one time departing Harrow on the Uxbridge line going over the points down into the flyunder to West Harrow, the exact component you have written about was doing the exact same thing and I looked up to maybe get a clue to why it was happening and one of those alan key headed metal screws was hanging off on the end of its thread ready to drop!

Riding the things every blooming day from Pinner to Kings X just about all of them rattle and squeak to some degree. And the latest thing seems to be the magnetic advert holders work loose and flap around with the swaying of the train. Hopefully they will have all fallen apart within six months!

The build quality does not appear great. I too have noticed the rattle(s). It reminds me of being on a bus

Having spent the last week going up and down the Met, (all in the cause of work!), I must say I have heard some rather odd and worrying sounds and rattles, especially compared to the 09 stock that I'm more used to. I have at least another week to come on the Met from tomorrow, may bring a hard hat with me. lol

I think if Pop Rivets were used to secure things like advert panels, this problem will not occur, they have the best of both worlds, they never work loose, yet if refurbishment or replacement of the advert frame was ever needed, they could be drilled out easily, even with a hand drill, as they are made of relatively soft aluminium.

Careful now, Eagle, your home line is a tube. If you forget where you are and accidentally drive an S back home that will be guaranteed to make a few bits fall off.

I'm sure there are a few people on here who would love me to try taking an S8 home and destroy it in the process. lol To think the last time I drove to Uxbridge it was on a 67 stock. Happy memories.

Bombardier products seem to be plagued with this problem. Whenever I go on a Class 168 it seems everything in the train interior rattles!

I personally can't fault the Turbo/Electrostar or Clubman trains but as you all know I am no fan of the LU stuff!

The interior build quality of a lot of new British trains leaves a lot to be desired.

The S Stock are terrible in terms of rattling! If its not the advert holders its the light fittings!
