Severe delays eastbound only, while we fix a signal failure at Mile End. Tickets will be accepted on London Buses and Greater Anglia services via any reasonable route. MINOR DELAYS on the rest of the line.
I am struggling to understand how severe delays eastbound don't impact on the westbound service. Help please!

Maybe they are reforming trains at Leytonstone/Hainault and hopefully a clear run back westbound

I was just telling my colleague the same thing!! It's the same as them announcing "severe delays on the Circle Line anti-clockwise only". (We were saying this when it was still saying "good service on the rest of the line".)
I suppose they only announce the delays once the eastbound delays start impact the westbound services (once they run out of trains to turn around at the other end) and the scale of the impact as it progresses.
They really like downplaying these kind of things - yesterday there were some "minor delays" on the Northern line, but by the time I got to my station, it was running a "good service". It still took 6 minutes for the first train to arrive in peak, so that's far from being a good service.
At the very least, they should rather change the notices and say "Severe delays eastbound only, currently minor delays on the rest of the line, but the line will be impacted over the next 3 hours" or whatever. I know it sounds long, but they KNOW that the delays are going to become worse - not all customers think this and end up turning up at a station going Westbound, only to find that the minor delays have turned severe.

They won't let the truth get in the way of their performance statistics.

Probably were reversing East to West at Liverpool Street. Is Bethnal Green crossover still OOC?

I recommissioned it back in April last year! Would this be around the two weekends that were spent upgrading the points there? It used to be a hell of a bumpy ride into Bethnal Green before the track work was done.

It would have been the two weekends, but they were in February and March 2011. The crossover remained out of commission for over a year afterwards, and was recommissioned one Saturday night.
