Tonight just after the evening peak I was at Surrey Quays taking some photos and an announcement was made that photography was banned without a permit from London Overground.
I thought photographs was allowed provided you didn't use flash or a tripod ( I just used my camera phone)
Have the rules changed? If so how do I get a permit from LO

The London Overground Ticketing and Travel Guide, section 4, states:
4.5.1. For safety reasons, on our trains and in our stations you must not: smoke use bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, scooters, skateboards or similar equipment take flash photographs and/or use a tripod or other camera support equipment use emergency exits except in an emergency or when instructed to do so by our staff. You may be prosecuted for disobeying these requirements.
That implies ordinary photography is permissible and that you may have encountere a jobsworth?
Have I got it right?

My approach is to typically ask first... I agree and I have all Underground staff very polite and helpful on every occasion I have asked for permission. XF

Reminds me of a time at Pimlico when 67ts were still common but in their last days. A small group of us with cameras were filming/photographing the 67ts at that station because it was quiet and near enough original.
15mins after we started a sweaty station supervisor came bounding up the platform from the entrance/exit with no tie and shirt untucked shouting 'WHO IS THE LEADER HERE!'

I contacted the Customer Services Director of LOROL (following advice to do this on another forum)to complain about the attitude towards photography of two of his staff recently. I think I mentioned it somewhere on here too? Part of his response was an unequivocal statement, I would encourage you to report your experiences directly to him too. His name is on Lorol's about us page. Lorol.co.uk email addresses have a full stop between first name and surname.
