Hi all again The link might help! www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/jan/09/london-underground-150-years-birthdayFound an interesting article on The Guardian website about its journalist's trip from one end of the Central line to the other for the 150th birthday of LU. A couple of points and questions: 1) To start with I notice a mistake. He says that Ruislip only has three tube stations serving it: South, West and Gardens. That is incorrect. There is also Ruislip itself and Ruislip Manor on the Met and Piccadilly lines. The town he can't find is at Ruislip tube station! ;D 2) I like the Ongar part where the locals tried to make out that Oxford Circus was one of the least viable stations on the network as it sold the least amount of tickets. Thinking about it central stations such as Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Bank without National Rail interchange must sell very few tickets as most people finish there and have there return tickets and Oysters sorted out by the time they get there. Does anyone know what stations sell the most paper tickets? I'm thinking somewhere like Epping or Harrow-on-the Hill. 3) Was there much opposition to the closing of the Ongar branch? Which station closure had the most opposition? I wouldn't have thought Blake Hall had much opposition Anyway enjoy! kabsonline
