Work in progress from the Virtual District Line team. As the Dark Blue line runs along side the Green Line for a good distance, we felt another important stock was needed. Folowing are screen shots of work in progress. Train by Richard Scott, cab by Darren, and I'm working on the physics and lighting and other details. MAKES A CHANGE DRIVING THE FAST LINES OUT OF ACTON THAT I/OP LOOKS STRANGELY FAMILIAR GMAX VIEW OF CAB IN PROGRESS - THIS WILL BE HIGHLY DETAILED! More pics as it progresses. Also more pics of District Line progress in the near future. Best to all, Jimi

More pics as it progresses. Also more pics of District Line progress in the near future. Good work! The cab you have done is for a refurb, which would b in corporate livery. Either way good work, if you want any pics, inside or out, send me a PM and I shall get some to you....

Thanks Met! The paint is barely dry on the 'old' scheme ;D but a corporate paint job is also planned We'd very much appreciate any pics of "below the sole bar". We're not yet convinced the under-car detail is right yet, so any outside shots of the 'gubbins underneath' would be very welcome! Best, Jimi

One feature I like is the J Key on the reverser...nothing escapes you and your team Jimi!!!!! Thanks Alex! Credit Darren for that one - he has an eye for detail. Another update... I got the physics finished so it now 'drives' like a 73TS, and also added the lighting. Darren has been working hard on the cab, and driving it feels like being in a real 73TS. I got to test out the current prototype this evening... APPROACHING ACTON TOWN ON THE EB FAST ROAD DRIVER'S EYE VIEW A few more details to finish, but the train is progressing very nicely. Best to all, Jimi

Looking excellent Jim! Any change of the LU blue, red and white, modern day livered version? Can’t wait for the District line – should be awesome!

Great work. I can't wait for the District Line either, the whole project just looks brilliant.
Will there be any Permanent Way stock?

Looks excellent as normal Jimi. Regarding the 59ts, sorry I've taken so long to get back to you, hopefully I should be able to send you something later this weekend - depends how much time I have (sadly lacking of late).

Recent offside cab rendition, courtesy of Darren. Yes, that's a 3D model and not a photo. Some minor tweaks left, such as "illuminating" a few CDU lights, else it's done. Amazing detail, as we have come to expect of him. Richard has also finshed the train units and we will have 3 consists in the kit with different destinations (like the D78) - Heathrow, Cockfosters and Rayners Lane. We also have a new 'real life' operator in the cab -- a current PIcc 73 Train Operator ("Doc") who has been helping us greatly with 'subject matter expertise'. Thanks are also due to Doc for providing us with more detailed pictures and some in-cab audio recording which I'll be putting into the trains sound files. This train looks and drives beautifully, and I think you LUL fans will be pleased. Won't be long now... Best, Jimi (on behalf of the team).

Looking excellent Jim! Any change of the LU blue, red and white, modern day livered version? Can’t wait for the District line – should be awesome! Rich - don't ask why, but originally Richard started building the pre-refurb train , while Darren started the refurb cab They're now both about to work on the 'other version' so in the end we will have realistic versions of both. They may release at the same time as separate kits. Not sure yet. The District project is still progressing (Def: a project is a continuous set of problems periodically interrupted by progress). I got somewhat frustrated with the scenery around the Kew rail bridge and took a break to work down from TG to GUN - I'll post screenshots of that section very soon. Regarding Pway stocks, the pic below was shot near RMD a while ago. I was building Kew Gdns station area and needed more ballast and rails ;D More news as it happens... /Jimi

Jimi, that 73 stock looks excellent, but the cab is even better!
One question about the route though, when released will this be commercial or freeware?

Jimi, that 73 stock looks excellent, but the cab is even better! One question about the route though, when released will this be commercial or freeware? The price of the route goes up every time I'm asked if it's commercial and when it will be released. Just kidding - it was always planned to be free. That way I work to my own schedule More news re the 73TS -- the Refurb cab is finished! Here's some in-sim shots at Acton Town Pfm 4 from a Heathrow-bound train... Look closely and you'll see lots of accurate details. Toblerone display, PA light lit, Heat/Vent On light lit on CDU, J door key on the keyring, train fault log book leaning on the offside desk, etc. Take a bow Darren! And many thanks to Doc for the detailed info and photos. Doc has also sent me a CD full of data, including in-cab sound recordings. You can therefore expect a special sound set for this train Best to all, Jimi

It's virtually real ;D Notice also the announcement stickers on the roof above the Toblerone. I've been eyeballing this for a few weeks as we've been building it, and I'm still spotting details Darren put in it... Oh, and wait for the passenger view. And the sounds. And the ability to block both WB Pfms at Acton Town ;D

Richard was busy over the weekend -- refurb body and associated details almost done. Sorry about the blurred destination in the pic caused by file type conversion and compression -- it looks like a perfect dot matrix in the sim. The refurb will also have multiple destination versions Best, Jimi (busy editing and processing real 73TS sounds)

Gents As part of my job I have to visit 7 offices throughout the southern half of the country. While I was in Oxford yesterday afternoon I was discussing the nature of programming with 3 colleagues and logged into DD's forum and showed them this thread - they were amazed at the detail and amount of work that had gone into the simulator. By the way these were the fairer gender , so if trains or rather images from the simulator interests them, it just proves how good it is and will be Well done to all involved Please let us all now how we can get our hands on the software once its completed Best wishes Christopher

Best to all, Jimi Jim, just a small point- that's platform 2 at Acton Town shown. Numbers are: WB local DR/picc pfm1 WB fast Picc pfm2 EB fast Picc pfm3 EB local DR/Picc pfm4 (pfm5 disused South Acton shuttle).

Apologies for the brain fade. I should know the numbering (as I built the station) but fooled myself looking at the nearside window pic and somehow thought I saw a "4" board, when on closer examination it's a "2". I'm not used to driving the fast lines ;D Fortunately "Doc" knew where he was going...

Apologies for the brain fade. Are you another candidate for an inadvertant trip to an unauthorised destination?
