I used to frequent Moriarty's pub at Bakers Street Station in the 80’s, before I went to Highbury.
That said, however, I cannot remember whereabouts in the station it was – can anyone enlighten me, or did you use it?

According to your username I'd have had you down as being nearer Hobbs End tube station..............

In the Met ticket Hall, on the extreme right hand side when approached from the overbridge from platform 6, within what is now the gateline! Once a regular haunt of call staff around early/late shift change in the days before UTS and D&A. I had many a pint in there from the late 1970s (it was a bit of a dive and called something else then) until the late 1980s. For a few years a very busy bar from opening time to closing time and a popular location for thirsty passengers as well as a convenient watering hole for staff!

The nearest Central Line station was the Shepherd's Bush station and while it may not have had a pit it certainly had somewhat damp bowels down below ticket hall level in which I did some enabling works some years ago. I have heard the odd story about the area from the days when the Central was built but I came long ago to the conclusion that Quatermass and the Pit was simply an invention based upon nothing but imagination although it would be nice to think that some form of devil (Hob) is alive and well. Strangely although I used Hobbs Lane many times when I was based in Wood Lane I never saw anyone enter or leave any of the houses in the street!

I did some enabling works some years ago. I always suspected you had a bit of the devil about you.......... Depending upon one's viewpoint anything from a little to quite a lot! Whatever was required to get a job done safely, to specification, on time and within budget, accompanied by suitable quantities of carrot and stick staff motivation and by querying anything I perceived to be poor management process by those above.
