Points to pib today: Answer: Between Stratford and Stratford International - Stratford City underpass [Deep Level] (click image for a larger version) I was wondering why a certain someone hadn't guessed, now we know! A point too to DavidH for an entertaining guess!

I was wondering why a certain someone hadn't guessed, now we know! I just want to point out though that it isn't quite Stratford as pib guessed, it's actually at the other end of the underpass looking towards Stratford. But close enough I suppose ;D.

How were you able to get a photo on the emergency walkway?

I suspect this is taken from the very end of the platform ajax the barrier.

No, it was on the emergency walkway towards the Stratford International end of the tunnel, if you look closely the power in the train isn't on. The photo is looking towards Stratford.
This was taken during the Fire Safety Test prior to the opening of the Stratford International Extension.

The location is about 1 train length along the section of covered way heading from Stratford International towards Stratford. The volunteer passengers were detrained onto the emergency walkway and then up a set of stairs to the surface between Westfield and Stratford International. After a short time there we went back down those stairs, re-embarked and waited while the train was powered up again (this took a while, probably charging the air) before the trip back to Stratford International.

Yes, it was just over 3 car train length into the tunnel, they wanted to make sure the whole train was in the tunnel plus added a bit extra to be near the emergency phone should it be needed.
Here are videos from the event where you can see where we stopped:
