20.189/L189 moved light engine from St Leonards to West Ruislip yesterday resplendent in her new livery. For those of you who do up to the minute modelling here's a couple of snaps. The loco is in the same red as 1938 tube stock and has gold cabside numbers. London Transport (presumably underlined) gold titling is due to be added to the sides.

Was it mentioned that another one would be repainted aswell into a version of 'corporate'? Who ownes the 20's, and if its TfL how many do they own now? Thanks for posting the pictures, it'll look grand when its had the lettering done

Great pics!
Were the Class 20s always allocated a LUL 'L' number or is this a recent initiative?

Looks more like bus red than train red as applied to 38ts. Looks brilliant especially when the gold London Transport lettering gets applied!
Looking forward to 20227 in corporate livery, the solebar on 20's will show the blue skirt off nicely

Bus red replaced the much nicer rail red from 1973.
I'm sure that the 20 is bus red, which seems a shame.

Must admit this is the first I've seen of them wearing eg L189 - not sure if this is just a nod to history or not. Must admit I don't know how the 'LUL computer' regards them. Obviously on National Rail network TOPS/Trust know them as 20.189 etc

I like it and I think it is a nice thing to do for MET 150 as the Class 20's have a long association with the London Underground. Maybe a model of it might be an idea XF

*falls off chair* What's the 'Shed Plate' on the cab end? "18A" was the depot code for Toton

"18A" was the depot code for Toton TVM, couldn't quite read it on the pics here.

Shed plates used to be on the front.
I take it they're Network Rail registered, hence the yellow panel. Looks fine against the red, might not look so good on the current corporate livery.

Yes they're NR registered and trip cock fitted - hence their use on S stock deliveries which traverse both systems. (Also of course the runs from Neasden to West Ruislip after dropping off stock at Neasden which needs tripcocks).

might not look so good on the current corporate livery. Wasn't there somebody on here a while back who was a dab-hand at photo-shopping trains into imaginary livery? Anybody remember who it was? They could give an advanced preview.

20189 has now had the "London Transport" lettering attached. Photograph taken at Barrow Hill yesterday. I see that no-one's changed the headcode since December! link
