i had to attend aldgate last night to take the air off the frame and set through running on the district the whole area was very strange it is hard to explain after going through several secruity checks with SO13 (anti terriost branch) me and my som made our way to the platforms and then to the IMR. there was 2 met line trains in the centre platforms at aldgate one fully berth and one about 1/2 a car out the platform, because of the bomb the air main and the signal main and proberly aload more cabling was damaged this was giving dual aspects from tower hill to aldgate east we was allowed round the north curve of the junction and when we looked back towards liverpool street we could clearly see a C stock ending for the circle line platform just past OB2 with the DM car blow like a sardine can towards the rear of the car, there was also another C stock waiting on the north curve from aldgate east heading towards liverpool street. the whole place looked very weird and eary but i suppose the thing that got me was the fact on the inner rail platforms every so often there was spotts of blood coming from the platform ramp to the staircase and i think that thought may never leave my head

Now you take care. Seek counselling. Try not to let it dwell in your mind. Take time off if you need it. If you are offered trauma relief then take it. Be calm, be calm. God bless and and look after yourself

i think that thought may never leave my head That's very understandable. If I can offer some advice, find someone to talk it out with. Whether that's a professional counsellor or a mate who's capable of listening over a pint or two without passing judgement doesn't matter. I promise it'll help. Above all, don't try and live with it.

My heartfelt sorrow goes out to all those who had the task of moving trains in and around the affected areas.
You people on the underground network have done a fantastic job in all this barbaric chaos, and are a pride to your profession.

That C stock just west of Aldgate East heading for Liverpool St was still there this afternoon (and presumably will be for a while). Quite an eery sight, the train in darkness with the M door wide open, all lit up by the tunnel lights. Also the 2 A stocks still at Aldgate. All clearly visible from the District.

Hope you're OK Pat - give me a call if you need to talk.
Even from my limited involvement yesterday it was very strange. At Acton at 1400 there were trains screwed down in platforms with everything cut out and (of course) no passengers around, so total silence on what are normally busy and quite noisy platforms.
I'm not due to go through the Minories area next until well into next week, so I'm sure that at least normality will have further returned by then.

it is being kept very hush hush though So why is it again being vented on a public forum? There's a lot more being made of this than need be. At no time was any of the travelling public in any danger. Bob, if you do join as more than a guest, maybe I can PM you the details so that you can see it was not as bad as you think. Let's leave it there before anyone gets the wrong idea.

On the subject of Aldgate, the area should be up and running from Friday onwards. However, the service cannot currently be increased by very much. The normal Met line timetable will operate, boosted by some additional Baker Street-Whitechapel services during peak-hours only.
From an operational sense, it is hoped to re-open the Edgware Road area next Thursday (28th) but no confirmation of services returning to normal on that date yet. Safest bet is to go by the date given out by Tfl which (when I last looked, but it may have changed) was 2nd August.

From information I've received from elsewhere the matter is now the subject of an HMRI and H&S enquiry so, please, let us have no more comment and/or speculation on what may or may not have occurred here. As you know, until now, I've not made it a requirement for contributors to formally register but I'm now seriously reconsidering this situation. Personally I'd regret that, but it is an option that I (and the other Admins of course!) may consider seriously.

I had to laugh this morning when coming east finishing nights. In Aldgate Platforms 2&3 (the Met bays) there's those flashing red entering possesion lights between the sand drags and red stop lights, that'll be a first, a train entering a possesion from a dead end!

On the subject of Aldgate, the area should be up and running from Friday onwards. Either due to work not being completed, or, more likely, due to the events of 21st July, this has not happened. It is hoped that running to Aldgate will start on Monday. The target of 2nd August for resumption of normal services should still be met.
