Evening, Does anyone know what happened to the custom built battery locos that were sent down the W&C for the upgrade work in 2006? Ta!

I know we've had this question before, a few years ago I think. From memory I think they went to the Jubilee to do some work on building the extension, but I'm not certain of that. I'll have a search later if nobody beats me to it (the oven has just dinged to say my pie is cooked!)

Who manufactured them? I have the newest Industrial Locomotive Society listings and can look them up.

What a state they became. They can't have been that old either.

They are owned by Quattro Plant Ltd. of Brownhills Staffordshire. This is a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty. They have four locomotives makers number(s) B4472A/B/C/D and named WALTER, ANN, LOU, and KITTY.

No, no, they're called WALTER, LOU, ANN, KITTY! (if you repeat it enough times in your head the meaning becomes obvious, if not, what is the first word of the thread title? )

If you look at the sales ad link above all is explained

Well they got rid of them without much fanfare. Surely for a system with a unique gauge like LUL, if something is new, serviceable, and bespoke, it makes sense to keep it as long as possible? Or were they sold because of standardisation?
All seems a bit odd.
