Well as people may or may not know, next year will mark 150 years of the Underground. www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/26007.aspxI found the article very helpful. Some queries to start off. On Jan 13th, will the steam trains replace regular tube trains when it comes to doing the commute? What are the historic journey recreations? Are they ticketed? Secondly do people know the dates for other events throughout the year? I'm not sure what else to ask at the moment.

A good place to start is to read this BBC article and this TfL Board Meeting paper from last year which should give you an overview of the plans. In answer to your questions, there will be a series of steam and electric hauled trips between Kensington Olympia/Edgware Road/Moorgate for special ticket holders only on the 13th and 20th of January - alas its too late to apply for tickets which have already sold out but if your curious the times and prices are available here. Regards, Chris

What is a "train wrap"? (mentioned in the plans) - makes me think of some tasty locomotive-themed snack Nah. BR were the first to serve 150 year old sandwiches.

I *think* (not read the links) it's a train wrapped in a decorative vinyl. In a similar manner to the poppies seen recently, or the "Capital of Culture" units on MerseyRail.

The platforms themselves along the route won't be ticketed by the looks of things.

Part of the 150 celebration murals at Moorgate below. A stock units 5234 (RAT) and 5110 were outside Neasden depot today, the latter with a Met maroon coloured insert in the destination blind space and yellow inserts in the running number boxes. Is this being used as part of the celebrations?

The above mural was alongside platform 6, the old Thameslink platform.

Did anyone see the BBC 6 o'clock news tonight? They grouped Crossrail into London Underground!

Did anyone see the BBC 6 o'clock news tonight? They grouped Crossrail into London Underground! That's because Crossrail will transform how the Underground will develop. Crossrail/Thameslink will complete that x/y heavy rail arterial link that London did not have for a long time.

So what were the crowds like? Would someone coming into Town have a reasonable chance of seeing one of next Sunday's runs?

The crowds seemed fine to me, and thinned out considerably later in the evening especially at the quieter stations - Baker St was probably the busiest but even then it was nothing excessive. The IanVisits blog has some updated times of the various runs, a lot more than were advertised in the public ballot and now reversing at Edgware Road. Chris
