This weekend, the DLR is suspended between Shadwell and Bank for track renewal work. Replacement buses are in operation between Tower Gateway and Bank. Any ideas why it's felt that rail replacement buses are needed for a part of London that's very well served by tubes and normal bus services?

I could understand it if the Circle/District were suspended too if it was felt there was a need to strengthen the regular bus services, but there are no works on the SSL this weekend.

The 15 is the obvious alternative but buses can be heavily loaded on Sundays

Where will they stand at Bank? They won't. There's about 2 minutes hesitation time at stop U on Gracechurch Street, with the rest of the stand time at Tower Gateway (Goodmans Yard Stand).
