Catchy is not the word, my OH has been singing it all week now, and doing the dance.

Public safety information the Australian way (warning, it's catchy) I know the singer, Emily Lubitz from a band called "Tin Pan Orange" www.tinpanorange.com/gigs/#/. I have mixed live sound for them on a couple of gigs. The song was penned by Harry from "Cat empire" www.thecatempire.com/The-Band/Band-Bio, Harry is Emily's partner. Cheers Alan.

A very clever way of delivering the message re trains and danger... very subtle !!!
Anyone up for the 1 hour challenge though ??!!

Actually, though the tune is catchy, I can't say I liked it. The cartoon violence where the dumbasses continue to live and sing another day doesn't quite bring home the finality of doing something stupid on the railways (or anywhere else for that matter). The most hard hitting campaign I've seen around is the road one for young people with the 90° rotated faces lying on the road.

This one produced by Network Rail is pretty powerful, though, without the need to be graphic.

This one produced by Network Rail is pretty powerful, though, without the need to be graphic. I actually believe that if one really wants to get the message across one should show the full horrific gory detail. It's not nice but it's life and I have always thought it wrong to hide the reality. Insulating people fosters a false sense of security. Of course it's not PC to frighten people too much these days but in my opinion being PC is so wrong on so many levels.

Actually I think there is a place for both cartoon humour such as this and the full reality you describe (and probably several shades between) as different things will get though to different people. Even if this doesn't show the real effects it will create associations, and it's also brought the subject to the attention of a lot of people who just wouldn't have thought about it otherwise which can only be a good thing.

I'm late to the party as usual. But that's really very good. And catchy as you said! Nice find.

It showed people turning into dust as the train hit them. I believe the Metro advert was more targeted at a yonger audience.

But children are so insulated from reality these days which is probably why so many grow up with little sense of reality and a limited knowledge of so much of the past and the present. In the 1950s and 1960s when I grew up the railways, canals, bombsites etc were quite accessible, some not fenced at all or had open access areas. Such places were our playgrounds from around 8 years old so we were streetwise from a very young age. One was always aware of accidents to friends and acquaintances and especially those that resulted in fatalities. One pupil in my primary school class drowned playing in a flooded quarry and another was decapitated when he stuck his head out of the window of a main line train without looking. Several were run over carelessly crossing busy roads and lived to tell the tale after getting their broken bones set and plastered. I was lucky I guess playing on Tottenham marshes watching Seven Sisters depot being constructed and along the river Lea which back then still had plenty of barge traffic on it and then there was the nearby industrial estate which was always a draw on Saturday afternoons where we challenged one another to make it onto the rooves of the buildings. I suffered only minor cuts and scrapes except one occasion when I ended up having to go to hospital to have a deep wound cleaned, sprayed and dressed and I still have the 7" long half inch wide scar to this day. Footbridges over the main line from Liverpool Street were sparse in the suburbs so we crossed the tracks via stiles and designated footways and were well aware of rail traffic. I admit to feeling somewhat sorry for today's children who will never know such freedoms as we enjoyed 50 years ago.
