Hi all Does anyone here know how to remove the warning sign transfers on the EFE ELL set? The ones that say about the platform height that are above each door window This is not the set sold by the LT museum it it the standard set seen here modelbuszone.co.uk/efe/tube/800to0304.htmlI am most grateful for any ideas Apart from them the ELL set looks just like I remember 38 stock in the 60's & 70's

Must admit I'd found no easy way of getting the main transfers on the side removed. Was thinking of having to resort to full respray for my cars.

They are not transfers but are printed on (Tampo printed). They can be removed using T-cut applied very carefully with a cotton bud.

Acrylic paint applied with a fine brush is another potential solution.

I think I might just rub down and respray my 1938 stock. I'm actually making a 6 car train with DM-T-DM+UNDM-58T-DM. The 58 trailer needs a coat of paint and I'm going to use a 1959 stock NDM as the UNDM (as the R/S door tops are straight!) I want to get the grab handles replaced with something more to scale.
The main project is to respray a 1959 stock DM from red/white/blue to silver!

If you're ging to respray then you may as well replace those awful moulded handrails as the cars look so much better with seperate handrails.

No, I did have a little trial which was inconclusive. Model Junction Slough do some fine phosphor bronze grab irons for American diesel locos. Trouble is you need a very fine drill bit and the skills/patience of a watchmaker. I did a little practice on a spare car which was hard work. If I go to the lengths of stripping down a car I may just try and remove the moulded handles and see what it looks like with them removed, sanded, and not replaced.

very nice! For reference, the real things are 3/4" OD, so @4mm scale this would equate to 0.25mm or about SWG 12.

I replaced the handrails on my converted EFE 1935 flat-fronted prototype and it looks far better than the original. I'd post some pictures if I was clever enough to reduce the file size on them.
