Is there any way that I can change the coding around on the A stock for the pilot light, because in BVE2 (and BVE 4?) its 'wired up' wrongly, with when the doors are shut the light is off, and when the doors are open, its on.

Are you sure that the light is wired incorrectly? Have you ever thought that you might be running around with the doors open?

It works ok on BVE4. I noticed that about BVE2 as well. Is the ELL that tight for time in real life?!

To be totally realistic on 1938 stock (see, I am already answering a question that you have not asked yet!) the doors should bounce when closing, causing the light to flicker. The door closed sensors should also flick the light off sometimes during heavy braking.

With BVE 2, you can't control the doors. So, you can't drive with the doors open.

With BVE 2, you can't control the doors. So, you can't drive with the doors open. Just because you cannot control the doors does not mean they are not open; And just because the passengers are only 'virtual passengers' does not mean you should not look after them. What you need to do is call the virtual controller, put the train out of service and arrange for it to go to a virtual depot for a virtual repair. At least you will be able to run non-stop through all the virtual stations at unrealistically high virtual speeds.

Heh. But bear in mind that with the A stock pilot light as it is in BVE 2, you can't actually motor with it on. *Has been thinking out loud and realises that what he's just written doesn't prove anything* Er....... well - IMO, the pilot lights wired up wrongly - no developer in the world for a realistic route would allow a train to motor with the doors open!

no developer in the world for a realistic route would allow a train to motor with the doors open! Well the developer has made sure that the virtual phone does not work, so you cannot call the virtual controller - Is that realistic?

If the pilot light is bugging you we can arrange for one of the virtual train technicians to come along and re-wire it!
The virtual train technician has sent you an e-mail Joe!

Heh - thank you, virtual train technician! *Toddles off to see if it works* It worked Thanks very much Tom. While I'm on the subject of BVE 2 trains, is there any way, that you can make the cabs go darker when you enter a tunnel, like on BVE 4, or would it be down to the author's choice, and him / her only?

I notice that there is a discussion going on in another thread about how cold train cabs are. Does this mean that for true authenticity, BVE users should turn-off the central heating?

Don't forget to turn off the lights and make the room as drafty as possible!

BVE 2 & trains only for BVE 2 don't have the lighting effects and trains designed for BVE 4 running in BVE 2 can't use the effects due to BVE 2's limitations

no developer in the world for a realistic route would allow a train to motor with the doors open! But, Joe, That's exactly what COULD happen in the days of guards. There was an interlock between the doors and the pilot light, but none between the pilot light and the control circuit. It was quite possible to pull away with the doors wide open (and occasionally did happen). With OPO proper interlocks were introduced for obvious reasins (nobody watching platform as train pulled out).

True Phil, but this is an OPO modified A stock , and unless this train's interlocks are b*ggered, in which case it shouldn't be in service anyway, the pilot light was incorrectly wired! (It now isn't, thanks to Tom's instructions.)

Total authenticity comes from when you have a large leak in the roof above you and a draught

The problem is that typical PC doesn't have equipment necessary to create leaks and draughts . Most PCs have an onboard fan or two - so that takes care of the draughts. I imagine that it would not be too difficult to create leaks on systems that have water-cooled processors.

Am I missing something here? The pilot light should be OFF when the doors are open, and ON when the doors are closed and the interlocks are all happy - exactly how you described it... Sam On his it's the other way around.

Has anyone tried driving the A stock through the buffers at New Cross Gate yet? I did just out of curiousity to see what would happen. You keep on going and take a very interesting look at the South London Line towards Forest Hill

Tried both!!! (old enough to know better? - naaaah!!)
NXG - yes you seem to be able to go on for ever. Morden - as far as you can! Northumberland park (Vic) - great fun!!! W&C - not as far as you'd like! Parson's Green - what a shame!!
Oh well, back to the real world....

Where's the Vic line and W&C sims? I've only got as far as Trainsim Central at the moment. I am still getting to grips with my 95 stock. It's very good (even I know this is an A Stock thread - sorry).
