After the A Stock trip a few of us poured over some sattelite images of the MoD/QinetiQ base at Shoeburyness/Pig's Bay. A little bit of Googling brought me across this image from Geograph.org taken in 2008: The caption states: "The extensive railway system of the MOD at Shoeburyness has long been used to store withdrawn railway rolling stock prior to scrapping. On view here are six coaches of a former Gatwick Express train while just visible on the left is the end coach of a former London Underground Northern Line train." I assume this is Mk1 72ts, 2008 was four, nearly five years ago now. Does anyone know if there is any tube stock still there, and if so why?

Various units in strategic store (including the AIT, 3213, and its donor unit 3214, at one time). Shoeburyness is no longer used for vehicles storage and the last two 72TS Mk 1 4-car units are now at Eastleigh being stripped of asbestos before scrapping.
Regards,
Dan

There was a lot there including a load of mk1 emus!
I was lead to believe there was even a couple of 59ts cars. One preserved?
