Passing the back of Ruislip Depot on the Met/Pic, it can be clearly seen that this train is being cut up onsite. I have however noticed, a front end of one of the driving cars (back to the first doors) seems to have been placed aside. Is this for preservation? The rest of the train is slowing disappearing into a pile of scrap
Apologies if this is in the wrong place, struggled to find a section for it

It was last used several years ago. No exact date in my records.
TCC5 is no more (apart from its cab, which is being kept - don't know for what at the moment). TCC4 is currently under the cutter's torch.

Is the old weedkiller 38TS still in existance? If so, how long will it be before it gets scrapped?

The old 38TS Weedkilling Train is next on that road for cutting up.

I was surprised to see the unit as we passed the depot on the Farewell to the A- Stock tour in September

Are there no preservationists active in LT circles? I've been involved with various old car/ bus/ rail groups over the years, and the idea that cutting-up pre-war vehicles is just something to mention 'in passing' amazes me.

Given that they have been extensively modified from their original condition, and are of no more historical interest than other examples of 1938 stock which have been preserved (or indeed are in daily operational service on the other side of the Solent!) I assume no-one thought the Tunnel cleaning and weedkilling rains were worth preserving. Given their specialised uses, they may well need to be dismantled in any case to retrieve specialised components that are to be re-used in whatever replaces them.

It would be much appreciated if anybody could get some photos before both Tunnel Cleaner and Weed Killer train return to just bits of metal. Myself and I'm sure many others will have wanted to see the interiors of these trains!

Apart from the cab of TCC5, the scrapping of the Tunnel Cleaning Train is now complete. They are now working on the weed killing unit and the first car should be "no more" very soon, other to follow next week.

Which train carries out weedkilling now? Battery locos and a converted GP wagon?

The weed killing unit of ex-1938 Stock is now history and in that great scrapyard in the sky.

A shame. I remember years back seeing it pass through Ickenham working. The offside sink, over the bogie by the cab, and the mish-mash of different seating moquettes where cushions were still in place.

This cab is still sat there, long after the rest of its remains have been cleared away. Any clues what its being kept for?
