This is now in the trade press so I can now expand a little. Fibre optic cables to be installed to correct the wiring not up to LUL standards. Adjustments to the wheel bearings. Bombardier to pay the transport costs. (GBRF CLASS 20's) Up to 37 trains involved. Two trains will be up in Derby at any one time. It will take one year to complete from this October onwards.

Do we know how much this is costing Bombardier?
What a sad but of negative press for the UK industry. Who knows what other issues they will find in the coming years ey?
I can imagine whenever a new S7 is delivered the engineers will be going over it with an even finer tooth comb!!

There is a forum policy not to publicise specific dates of S stock deliveries. Shouldn't this apply to transfers in both directions?

Fibre optic cables to be installed to correct the wiring not up to LUL standards. Why do I get the feeling that LU are very quickly writing a Fibre Optic standard?

What unit is the first? I would like to see the first trains sent to london sent back to Derby first. Poor would be a polite way of decribing them....

Always thought the S Stock was a bit cheap and nasty. Are the S7s going to be delayed now?

i am surprised - they should retain some A stocks for emergency use like Victoria line not scrap them till its 100% sure working correctly - its waste of money but C stocks could drafted in which they can work as Met line if S stocks had problems

Would be fun to see C stocks on the Met but come on, the Amersham Man hates S stocks enough! Would be fun to go to Uxbridge on a C stock though

37 trains involved - of a total of 58, 21 will be not involved, and that will slowly grow as each unit comes out of the fix.

The link might not work, but I took some night shots of the 20s at Ruislip Manor, on Monday's transfer move from West Ruislip to Neasden. It is amazing to see x4 20s on a service train, especially bearing in mind it was just after the evening peak and on LUL metals; mainlinesouth.smugmug.com/Trains/London-Underground/17834982_GCFkbt#!i=2171776499&k=bH6xnXW&lb=1&s=XL (pics 116 & 117) Link corrected
