It is an ex-service-stock.........it has ceased to be.
Welcome to the forum gledhir. Have a look at the Metropolitan Line board for comprehensive information.

Are there a few still kicking about doing rail adhesion duties?

Sorry, the A stock have been retired. Instead, you have to listen to Whitney Houston's "I will Always Love You", because you are too late. Most of them are now scrapped and some are just now rail adhesion trains. By next year you will no longer see a train known as 'A60' and 'A62'.

The RATs will be running a few more years. We may well see an A60 stock train about in a few years too

XF I saw one carriage being taken to its final resting place when driving on the M1 in Yorkshire a couple of weeks ago...on the back of a lorry. The final indignity

I am crying right now, listening to Whitney, lip-syncing "I Will Always Love You" with a picture of an A stock in my computer. I've never been affected enough to get that emotional over a scrapped vehicle, be it plane, train or auto-mobile, even ones I've crashed. However, after a brief straw poll of 15 people in the pub earlier regarding this post, 20% of them castigated me for being a heartless swine! Not enough to win an election but I stand convicted of the charge. Don't worry too much indbmtirt, you'll get over it.

Hmmm. It would be nice if the LT museum had an example of its predecessor, the wonderful T stock.

Nice to see the A stock finally preserved. So is the museum going to keep a C & D stock with such limited space?
