According to the mayor Boris, both Euston Square and Euston station are to be joined at the hip when HS2 is built. mqt.london.gov.uk/mqt/public/question.do?id=42645Will both stations remain separate entities or do you think this will be a Bank / Monument operation with staff from Euston running both stations?

I'd like to see Bank & Monument and Euston & Euston Square (once done) operate under one name, even if it's both names shared like:
Bank & Monument
Although that wouldn't work with Euston.

was not Bank and Monument at one time to be renamed Bank but the fire brigade objected as it was easier to identify where to go if the stations retained there names. Same problem with named stands at football grounds. it is easier to identify a stand by North, East, South, or West.

Where *is* Euston Square anyway? Shouldn't they rename the station back to Gower Street?

Where *is* Euston Square anyway? Shouldn't they rename the station back to Gower Street? Or make the complex named Euston, which has a Gower Street ticket hall and Gower Street exits etc.

Where *is* Euston Square anyway? Shouldn't they rename the station back to Gower Street? That would probably result in a massive drop in passenger numbers at Euston Square, with a large number of them interchanging onto torturous routes to get them to Euston itself via the deep level lines. Even without a connecting tunnel, it's still the most practical option for people arriving via the SSL, and for this reason it deserves to keep the name.

Where *is* Euston Square anyway? Euston Square was there first - it was the site of Trevithick's "Catch Me Who Can" in 1809 and I recall reading, although I can't remember where, that the London & Birmingham Railway station was originally called "Euston Square"

Euston Square is the square in front of Euston Station so the LU station is completely mis-named.
It's also way past its sell-by date. As I live on the Met line and my sister lives in Preston, when we visit each other we both have to endure the inconvenience of the walk between tube and main line. Euston Square is cramped, dingy, and in the wrong place.
Seems to me that a completely new Metropolitan/Circle/H&C station is needed, closer to the main line station. As the line must pass right in front of Euston station, under Euston Road, then it should be possible to build a new station in Euston Square itself. It would then be easy to incorporate that into the existing LU "Euston Station".
OK there will be cost and disruption, but compared to the rebuilding of many other LU stations this ought to be affordable and high on the list of priorities.

The platforms can stay where they are, as the current entrance is at the west end, so all that is needed is a new ticket office at the eastern end. This is what is planned in conjunction with the HS2 rebuild of Euston and it wouldn't be worth doing anything before then.

Honestly, you could hoy a brick between the two easily. Besides, if Euston Square were any further east, it would be too close to King's Cross, and just look at the interstation distance to the west... it's in exactly the right place, IMHO. It's very handy for the university and hospital too. In fact, it could even have a walkway to Warren Street if it weren't for the fly-under getting in the way - not that such a connection would help anyone. No, as was stated above, the eastern end of the platform is close enough to Euston mainline to get a passageway, ticket hall and entrance built there. At least the name would make sense then!

Just join the two stations and the National Rail station into one complex - Euston!
