Why are Wimbledon and South Wimbledon so far apart on the current map? Geographical accuracy was never the aim of the Beck design, but in this case it would make things a lot neater by removing the "sump" and long trailing diagonal of the Northern Line.

I was unaware until now that the Stanmore branch was originally part of the Metropolitan Line, I didn't think it existed prior to the Bakerloo Line Branch being built to there.
