Hi
The route from clapham common to south seems to run down the main road linking the two stations. However, Clapham South platforms are perpendicular to the road, so the line must turn round somehwere near 90 degrees. This can't be possible as the road is straight, so does anyone know the exact route the line takes?

The answer is,of course, that the platforms are not perpendicular to the road. The site is an unusual one and it is dealt with in "The Man Who Built london Transport"...nothing is quite as it seems at Clapham South. The escalator is nearly at right-angles to the tracks which splay apart (as shown in Mr.Carto's fine map) to allow them to arrive at the bottom landing yet still clear the running tunnel..

It just seems that way as the platform seems to be in line with the escalators (which are perpendicular to the road), but obviously not.
