Just as a hope that the remaining A stocks could run with Sarah and the 38? Would be nice one last time.

I assume this did not happen, the only A Stocks I saw were parked up at Neasden. The Cravens inspection train was there too. I was around for part of the day at Amersham, overheard some rumours that Steam on the Met could be making a comeback. Could be tosh of course.

Maybe this is what the rumour was about - Met Loco Number 1: www.ltmuseum.co.uk/collections/projects/met-1Not sure of the accuracy of the statement on the above I'm sure I've seen photos of a steam special at New Cross or New Cross Gate in the 1950's. How did it get there if not via Kings Cross?

Should check before I post. Photo page 25 in London Underground Steam by Kevin McCormack of L44 at New Cross Gate 1st Oct 1961 "working a railtour over the East London line and Stanmore branch".
