If Bombardier can design a pantograph NDM for the S stock, would it not make sense for TfL to standardise on uni/bi/tri-electric versions to run each chunk of the suburban network it gains? The greater number of doors would speed dwell time at stations, and a higher number of cars of shorter length would also result in smaller gaps at the PTI increasing accessibility.

The S stock wouldn't be able to run to West Croydon or Crystal Palace as tube drivers can't drive on proper network rail main lines. Simply not true. There's nothing to stop the units getting the stamp to run along side frieght. Hell they are about to let trams and freight trains mix in Sheffield so there is no basis in fact for your statement. I'd have loved to see S5's going to Wimbledon as part of the original ELLX plan. Tube drivers (even the ones that run on Network rail managed sections) are not recognised as qualified train drivers by Network rail. This limits where they can drive.
