According to the TFL site, the Central line will be closed between Newbury Park and Grange Hill from Wednesday 24th October until Friday 26th October, and again from Monday 29th October until Friday 2nd November.
Any ideas as to what is being done?

Any ideas as to what is being done? "The closure will be used to complete ballast and track replacement, improve drainage and carry out work on points and crossings. "A 12-day blockade will take place on part of the Hainault loop from Wednesday 24 October until Sunday 4 November 2012.
On weekdays the closure will be between Grange Hill and Newbury Park only. Trains will continue to run via Redbridge to Newbury Park, and via Woodford to Grange Hill. Replacement buses will serve the closed section of line.
On weekends (26/27 October and 3/4 November) the closure will be extended to cover the whole of the loop (between Leytonstone and Woodford via Hainault). Trains will continue to run to Epping via Leytonstone and Woodford, and replacement bus services will run to both of those stations, as well as to Ilford."

Oh this is going to be fun, Hainault depot will be closed which will mean that all the trains that normally stable there will have to go elsewhere while the TOps at Hainault will have to book on and then be ferried to Leytonstone or Loughton as there aren't enough spare lockers (or anywhere to put spare lockers if there were) to move them to other depots on a temporary basis. Shame I'm going to miss the first week, I've got annual leave.

Whoops missed that but it will be shut at weekends. At Grange Hill you reverse by going up the Wash Road in the depot as there's no crossover.
