From the cab windows and headlights, I'd say it's supposed to be a 1995/1996 stock.

As thejrb has said they are a good likeness of '95/'96 Stock, although Unfortunatly there is a cab at each end of the car.

Here's a picture showing the rear "cab"...without headlights/destination blind etc. Is this a good likeness of this end of the car? I can't find any pictures of the non-driving ends of the real thing.

Looking at interior views of 95/96 stock the window in the communicating door looks too shallow for a non-driving end.

Ah yes; the car end windows also have a corner cut-out only present on the driving cabs. Still, they're quite attractive little models, and the only piece of London 2012 merchandise that has even begun to tempt me!

Yes its from China and made out of recycled A stock
The A stock was scrapped and recycled just to make these little beauties. Every A stock lover must buy not just one, but several. A special prize shall be given to the person finding "5100" painted on the inside of his momento, and tribute to Chinese train building
If you don't buy now, you'll end up paying more on e~bay
All profits will go to the Boris care home for the bewildered, overlooking the "Bendy-bus museum", Monte Carlo

If anyone wants a fleet of these, Modelzone is now selling them at £4.99 each (reduced from £9.99), but they are also included in the 3 for 2 (cheapest free) offer on Olympic tat.

Bit too late, but just remembered this thread, the tube trains were three for £10 at the Megastore in the Olympic Park!

p.s. the inner end is correctly-proportioned, being much shallower than the driving cab, and minus the driver's side window; it's only the non-driving "cab" front (and the colour scheme!) that doesn't quite match the prototype.

Despite those thing looking a little like toys to me, I just ordered the two models (the keyring and the bigger one). Well, I've to admit I paid more for shipping than for the models. Too bad ;D

Oh, and it's probably a stupid question, but was there any train painted any close to this livery ? I think I saw in some threads picture of a Sub-surface stock (can't remember if it was A, C or D) with a car decorated for the flame, but I don't remember seeing a deep-tube stock with special livery (I suppose it'd have been the Jubilee Line).

The only things I've seen are vinyls of cartoon Olympic competitors on the doors of some Central Line stock (changing the colours, and making them disability non-compliant?).

Thanks for those replies. I suppose the central line trains were the "Get ahead of the games" ones ?

Call them what you want, but the kids seem to love Mandeville and Wenlock.
p.s. I've not been able to look at the 2012 logo in the same way since someone described it as "Lisa Simpson giving someone oral pleasures"...

And then someone goes and shows you this: www.creads.us/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Bart-and-lisa.jpgI remember that one from about a year ago, something that isn't forgotten although we'll be seeing a lot less of it now ;D.

I've always thought that tube trains should be painted in the colour of their lines. I find the current livery a bit sterile and obvious.
When I was a kid I used to think that it would be cool for some of the 1938 stock to be green on the outside and red on the inside.
