Kontroll is the latest project by the young hungarian filmmaker Nimrod Antal. It is a movie that takes place in a big metro system, in a big city, somewhere, sometime. The hero of the movie is a young man who couldn't cope with the pressure of life on the surface, so he has now permanently withdrawn to life under the surface, working as a undercover revenue control inspector. However, all is not wel in the Metro: A driver insists on having lit candles and icons in his cab to keep the ghosts away. His daughter is running around in the Metro in a bear suit, chasing spirits. There are japanese tourists afoot. And footie hooligans who do not want to pay. Oh, and a psychotic killer is stalking the Metro, threatening the life of the young hero's True Love. Epic battle ensues. From what I have seen of the movie, it seems to be something on the lines of the danish/swedish series "Riget/The Kingdom" -a rather bizarre, fantastic and surrealist concoction, with lots of black humour. In other words, this is something I have to hunt down and watch!
